People wishing to receive a copy were required to submit their details on a dedicated registration website; valid applicants received a one-time use code via email that could be redeemed with an eligible purchase on region-specific Pokémon Center online stores. The registration website opened on July 11, 2022 at 12:30 PM ET and was open to residents of the United States, Canada (except Quebec), and the United Kingdom. It was scheduled to close either on August 23, 2022 at 11:59 PM ET or when all allocated codes had been claimed—all were claimed by July 14. Codes were distributed in waves to eligible entrants within 12 weeks of entry.
