1932 Marqués de Murrieta, Castillo Ygay Reserva Especial - Rioja Gran Reserva - 1 Flasche (0,75 l)

This 92-year-old wine is one of the most extraordinary wines ever produced in Rioja. Bought to a wine distributor in RIoja in 2012. Stored in private cellar up to today in excellent condition: high filling level, cork, color, capsule, label, no leakage. Fully mature and therefore drinking well now or cellar for 20-25 years.

The white Castillo Ygay 1932 Blanco Gran Reserva was rated 100/100 Parker. There are no records whatsoever about this wine, not even its market release, but 1925 Castillo Ygay was bottled in April 1964, 39 years after the harvest, one of the longest élevages of Marqués de Murrieta winery.

We have to realize this was produced in a very different world, where there was no rush, no calculations of return on investment and stuff like that. Under those circumstances, the wine was not released until mid 60s, and while the winery has no records of the production process or bottling time, later vintages were still kept in oak for 20 years before they were bottled, so you have to suspect it was that or even more in this case

This very special Red Castillo Ygay 1932, as well as 1919 (100/100 Parker), 1926 or 1940, was never placed on the market and just a few bottles left the winery. Maybe it was bottled simultaneous to 1925 Castillo Ygay but not much information is available. Extremely rare!!!
