Sasaniden AR Drachme (Ohne Mindestpreis)

Sasanian AR Drachm Circa 6th century AD The obverse of this AR Drachm features a bust of the King facing right, adorned with a crescent and stars. The reverse depicts a fire altar with attendants and ribbons, flanked by a star and crescent, symbolising the Zoroastrian religious influence in the Sasanian Empire. Zoroastrianism was the dominant religion during the Sasanian Empire, which ruled from 224 to 651 AD in what is now Iran and parts of Iraq. This ancient pre-Islamic religion, founded by the prophet Zoroaster (or Zarathustra) in the early part of the first millennium BC, profoundly influenced the empire's religious, cultural, and political life. Zoroastrianism is centred on the worship of Ahura Mazda, the supreme god who embodies truth, light, and goodness, in opposition to Angra Mainyu (Ahriman), the spirit of evil and darkness. The religion emphasizes a dualistic cosmology and the constant struggle between these opposing forces. It advocates for the followers to uphold the principles of good thoughts, good words, and good deeds.
