Shozan Shido was born in 1932 in Oita Prefecture, where he began creating Kokeshi in the 50s. His creative works were recognized with numerous awards such as the Prime Minister's Award. His kokeshi are arguably amongst the most popular, and sought by collectors all over the world making them highly expensive.
