【Product details】
This exquisite Meiji era taiko drum showcases the traditional Japanese decorative technique of maki-e, where gold or silver powder is sprinkled onto wet lacquer to create intricate designs. The drum is adorned with beautiful depictions of pine trees and cranes.
In Japanese culture, pine trees symbolize longevity and resilience, while cranes represent good fortune and longevity. Together, they convey wishes for a long and prosperous life.
Please note that the drum shows signs of wear, scratches, and stains due to age. There are also chips and cracks in the lacquer, and verdigris on the metal fittings. Please refer to the photos for a detailed view of its condition. The drum has not been played. Please purchase it strictly for decorative purposes.
