Biography
Imao Keinen(1845-1924)

1845 (Koka 2) - 1924 (Taisho 13)
Born in Kyoto, Japan. His childhood name was Isaburo, his first name was Eikan, and his last name was Shiyu.
The pseudonym is Ryujiraku,Yoso-sai.Worked as a draftsman for his family's Yuzen dyeing business.
Studied under ukiyoe artists Umekawa Tokyo and Suzuki Hyakunen.
Became a commissioned professor at the Kyoto Prefectural School of Painting in 1888.
He won the second prize at the National Industrial Exhibition in 1895, and was awarded the silver medal at the Paris International Exposition in 1900.
In 1904, he became an Imperial Household Artist and a member of the Imperial Art Academy.
He was awarded many prizes at domestic and international expositions for his outstanding talent in flower and bird painting.
He was a major figure in the Kyoto art world, inheriting the tradition of the Shijo School, and devoted himself to the training of future generations.
Died in 1924 at the age of 79.
