Elegant and completely restored wooden kimono’ishô’dansu 着物衣装箪笥 (cabinet of drawers for kimono) in two sections. Fully restored, cleaned and waxed.
It is made of indigenous kiri (paulownia) wood varnished in a sought after warm brown hue, a colour that we like to call ‘golden oak’.
Both parts configured with three wide drawers
The smooth-running drawers fitted with charming decorative lock plates shaped like a cherry blossom 桜 (sakura).Flanked by “kushigata”-shaped bail handles.
The cabinet is very spacious and ideal for easy storage.
The sides with retractable “pole carrying”-handles for easy transport and locking the upper part into place.
The backside of bot sections with a lable reading ‘Tsuru’ 鶴 (crane),
‘Made by Washizuka’ 鷲塚製. And the upper drawer also with a label: ‘Founded in 1858, High grade clothing chest store, Washizuka, Tôkyô’ 天保三年創業, 鷲塚高等箪笥廛, 東京.
The bottom of both chests stamped '1993'.

Period: Japan – 1993 (Heisei period).
