Art is the universe in which Alessi’s research-based approach to design was developed. In the early 1970s, Alessi embarked on an ambitiously experimental project known as Alessi d'après, which delved into the art world. This endeavor resulted in the collaboration with renowned artists to create a collection of sculptures produced in unlimited series.

Among the remarkable pieces created during the Alessi d'après project, one stood out as a masterpiece by the surrealist artist Salvador Dalí. Designed in 1973, the sculpture was named "Obget inutile," which translates to "Useless Object." However, despite its artistic brilliance, the "Obget inutile" was the only sculpture from the collection that was not put into production.

The Alessi d'après project, which spanned approximately three years, had captivated the public with its experimental nature. However, the complexity of manufacturing the sculptures proved to be a challenge, monopolizing the mechanical workshop and causing delays in Alessi's regular production. As a result, the decision was made to suspend the project after the creation of the initial five multiples, preventing the "Obget inutile" from entering full-scale production.

Although the "Obget inutile" was never produced during its initial conception, its significance in the history of Alessi's design practice remains pivotal. The project laid the theoretical groundwork for the company's subsequent endeavors and underscored the enduring aesthetic unity between objects and works of art.

In a nod to this artistic continuum, Alessi has decided to reintroduce Salvador Dalí's "Obget inutile" sculpture in the present day. By doing so, they aim to reaffirm the intrinsic connection between art and design that has defined Alessi's research over the past fifty years. This re-emergence of Dalí's masterpiece signifies Alessi's commitment to bridging the gap between objects and artworks, embracing the unique intersection of aesthetics and functionality.

Produced in 2023, the "Obget inutile" sculpture is a limited edition masterpiece. It is meticulously crafted from high-quality materials, including 925 silver, 24-carat gold-plated brass, and olive wood. Each sculpture within the edition is numbered, and the specific number of the piece remains concealed until the time of delivery.

To bring this project to life, Alessi collaborated with the Gala-Salvador Dalí Foundation in Figueres, ensuring the fidelity and authenticity of Dalí's original vision. With the "Obget inutile" sculpture, Alessi pays homage to the artistic legacy of Salvador Dalí and celebrates the enduring harmony between art and design that has been the hallmark of Alessi's innovative research for the past five decades.

The scultpure will be in a new condition. Delivery time inside EU will be 3 - 6 weeks depending on location.

Snelle verzending en mooi product, maar de berekende verzendkosten zijn te hoog. Ook de verpakking was (zeker voor die prijs) erg matig, een simpel stukje papier.
