Superb quality crafted solid 800 silver large size and heavy weight barrel shaped covered jug with wood handle.
The body finely hand engraved with Johann Balthasar Bossard coat of arms (a cross flanked by two stars) and his wife Anna Helena Aklin (1804—1867) coat of arms
It was probably made in 1831 for their marriage
Johann Bossard (1806-1869), silver and goldsmith, set up business in Lucerne.
Under his son - Karl Silvan Bossard - direction, the firm received a distinction at the Schwizerischen Landesausstellung in Zurich, 1883, a silver medal at the Internationalen Ausstellung für Edelmetalle in Nuremberg, 1885 and a gold medal at the Paris Exposition Universelle in 1889.
Fully hallmarked 0.800 together with "Flying bird holding a key" Swiss silversmith's mark
