Gold Maki-e Juubako 金蒔絵 - Black Lacquered Five - Tiered A jubako adorned with Phoenix - Kasten - Das Design von Phoenix - Holz

This is a five-tiered lacquered box with a phoenix painted in gold lacquer. This stacked box is around 70 to 100 years old. The condition of the lacquer work is relatively good. Even the fine details such as the phoenix, trees, and flowers are clearly visible. There is a small crack on the corner of the bottom tier. There is also a small crack on one of the lids. I don't think it will affect use. There are also scratches, scuffs, and signs of use in places. Although it is very old, I think it is still in good enough condition to be used. A tiered box is a box-shaped container used to wrap traditional meals in Japan, and can be stacked in several tiers. The tiered box is painted with black lacquer and has fine gold patterns, giving it a delicate and elegant impression. Gold lacquer is a technique in which thin gold leaf is applied to the surface of lacquerware and wooden products, and patterns called lacquer are drawn with lacquer. Gold leaf is very thin and transparent, so when applied over lacquer, it gives off a beautiful shine and gives the decorative item a luxurious and elegant impression. The production of gold lacquer requires great care, and craftsmen must have accurate brushwork and meticulous techniques. This technique has an important meaning as part of Japanese traditional crafts, and is widely used in art and craft decorations and gift items. We have posted many photos, so please take a look. Atention: The items listed for sale are all used collectibles.
