Set upon gracefully curved legs, the exterior is a canvas of opulent mother-of-pearl inlays, each piece meticulously placed to create an array of auspicious motifs against the deep black backdrop. The lid is embellished with chrysanthemums symbolizing longevity and rejuvenation, pine needles reflecting endurance and eternal youth, and pine cones representing continuous growth. The sides are graced with a variety of symbols: the Vesica Piscis, an ancient emblem of cosmic harmony; paulownia leaves, indicating honor and virtue; cherry blossoms, the quintessential sign of fleeting beauty and the transient nature of life; three-leaf clovers, associated with faith, hope, and love; and plum blossoms, heralding the resilience and renewal of spring. Inside, the vivid vermilion interior offers a bold counterpoint to the elaborate exterior, mirroring the passion and energy of traditional Japanese celebrations. While time has left its mark through surface scratches, some lacquer loss, and the occasional crack, these signs of age have not diminished the jubako's historic charm. We encourage a close examination of the accompanying photographs to fully appreciate the artistry and condition of this distinguished piece. Dimensions: approx.
