Magnificent figurine group depicting a “Child riding a Toucan” bird, originally titled “Höhe Schule” (German)/ “High School “, creation of the famous artist Ferdinand Liebermann (1883 - 1941) for Rosenthal Porcelain Manufaktur - Selb Bavaria Art Department, in excellent condition. Ferdinand Liebermann designed the figurine “High School ” in 1910, as find reference in Niecol vol 2, p 283; Fischer 127 #657 and Fischer 136 # 97,98. The unmistakable avant-garde style of Ferdinand Liebermann creation shows an oversized toucan bird of great beauty in style and gorgeous turquoise color, with a naked child riding it. Ferdinand Liebermann studied at the Munich School of Arts and Crafts and the Art Academy and opened in 1910 his studio in Munich. In the same year he received the Great Austrian Golden State Medal for a small bronze sculpture. He became one of the most important designers for the porcelain manufacturer Rosenthal AG. It is in excellent condition , marked on the back of the base with Rosenthal 1914 specific year mark, impressed name of F.
