The result of a year as complex as it is unpublished in Champagne, Louis Roederer's Cristal 2012 is undoubtedly in the line of the very great vintages of the house.

Despite the low yields of 2012, the continental climatic conditions of the after-season have made it possible to obtain grapes that have reached a rare level of maturity with the key, rich and powerful wines revealing all the greatness of their terroirs of birth. 2012 also marks the advent of a new chapter for viticulture set up on the exceptional vineyard of the Maison Louis Roederer. Cristal 2012 is thus the first vintage of this precision viticulture, the result of several years of experimentation, placing the vine at the heart of the reflection of the elaboration of each champagne.

Vinification and aging

Vinification is carried out underwood at 32%. No malolactic fermentation. The dosage of this 2012 vintage champagne is 7.5 g/liter.

Tasting

Dress

The dress is a beautiful yellow gold color with shimmering reflections. The effervescence is dazzling with dynamism.

Nose

Rich and complex, the bouquet is gradually discovered. Fruity and tangy notes charm the nose before giving way to warm and vanilla notes and then lightly toasted. The aeration highlights gourmet pastry notes evoking scents of pastries and pleasant smoky notes testifying to the long maturation time in the bottle.

Mouth

From the attack in the mouth, Cristal 2012 packs the palate with its silky and tasty texture. Precise and chiseled, the mouth sports this incredible chalky tension giving this exceptional champagne a deep and tapered look, of a beautiful persistent in the finale.

The Cristal 2012 vintage of Louis Roederer champagne is a marriage of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay. About a third of this blend was vinified under wood. An approach that brings notes of toasted hazelnut and pastries. Malolactic fermentation has been blocked in order to maintain a good tension and a great guard potential. Finally, the vintage is dosed at 7.5 g/l, a choice that superbly balances the wine between freshness and richness.
