The Barca Velha of 1995 is bright, deep and of an intense red. Its range of aromas is quite rich, revealing notes of ripe fruit, violets, spices such as vanilla and pepper, balsamic and nuances of tertiary aromas such as pharmacy and iodine. On the palate, it shows an excellent balance between alcohol and acidity, very persistent, fine, elegant and with a delicate finish.

Casa Ferreirinha, acquired by Sogrape Vinhos in 1987, and its wines are synonymous with time and art. This has been the case since its foundation, in the eighteenth century, by the hand of Bernardo Ferreira, who saw the formula refined by his descendants, especially by his granddaughter Dona Antónia Adelaide Ferreira, who was affectionately known as "Ferreirinha" or "Ferreirinha-da-Régua" by the people of her land. By the hands of Dona Antónia, who twice widowed found herself at the head of a large company, Ferreira consolidated itself in an admirable way. Her entrepreneurial spirit taught her to predict, decide, create, teach and love, making her a figure of great projection and charisma. Thus, Barca Velha was also created, an unquestionable symbol of the highest quality of Douro wines. Classic, intense, complex and elegant, are the adjectives that describe what has been, since its creation in 1952, the most famous Portuguese wine. Barca Velha is the basis on which Casa Ferreirinha's reputation grew, being declared in truly exceptional years.
