You are bidding on an original 1st US 2LP-album of The Velvet Underground (with Lou Reed!), in near mint vinyl condition (!):
- A 1974 original 1st US 2LP-Press (50 years young) of the avant garde rockband The Velvet Underground '1969 Velvet Underground Live – With Lou Reed', released on Mercury SRM-2-7504 with first press matrix runouts A/D and stamped ‘Masterdisk’ , typical red Mercury labels, in a laminated inner picture gatefold sleeve with double page image inside and comment and the original black & white printed inner sleeves advertising other Mercury releases. Recorded in Dallas & San Francisco in october/november 1969 ! The pictures are an essential part of the LP-description, so watch them carefully. The album ‘1969 The Velvet Underground Live - With Lou Reed’ is one of the more popular albums by the band. In November 1969 the band was given permission by the famous nightclub The Matrix in San Francisco to use the in-house four-track recording desk.
As soon as ‘1969’ was released by Mercury Records, it immediately became subject of a lawsuit as The Matrix’s management never gave permission to use the material in a commercial release. The matter was finally settled out of court. At the time of the release the songs ‘We’re Gonna Have a Real Good Time Together’, ‘Over You’ and ‘Sweet Bonnie Brown’ have never been released elsewhere in any form.
It is a rare to find such a rare original 1st US Press of a Velvet Underground-album, in this amazing condition!
This is an album every true classic rock vinyl-lover wants. A fantastic collector’s item!
