A Single Man is Elton John's twelfth studio album, released in 1978.
This album is particularly notable as it was the first time Elton John had worked without his long-time lyricist Bernie Taupin since the beginning of his career.
Instead, he collaborated with Gary Osborne for the lyrics, opening a new chapter in his musical style and direction.
The album is more reflective and subdued compared to some of his earlier work, reflecting Elton's desire to experiment and redefine his sound.
