Ange -“Émile Jacotey”

- is the fourth studio album by French progressive rock band Ange, released in 1975.
The album is inspired by the life and stories of Émile Jacotey, a blacksmith from Saulnot in the Haute-Saône, France, who was known for telling local legends and folklore.
While on tour in England, Christian Décamps, the band's lead singer, received a letter from his cousin containing an article about Jacotey.
Intrigued, Décamps met with Jacotey and recorded a 45-minute conversation that inspired several songs on the album.

The album is a blend of progressive rock and folk elements, incorporating Jacotey's narratives to create a unique storytelling experience. Tracks like “Bêle, Bêle Petite Chèvre” and “Ode à Émile” feature Jacotey's voice, lending authenticity to the folkloric themes.

In 2014, Ange re-recorded the album and released it as “Émile Jacotey Résurrection”, which included four additional songs and further conversations recorded by Jacotey. This version was followed in 2015 by a live album, “Émile Jacotey Résurrection Live”, which captures the band's performance of the reworked work.

“Émile Jacotey” is considered a significant work in Ange's discography, demonstrating their ability to interweave music with stories and folklore
