The seal number(s) you see on the photos might differ from the one(s) on your bottle(s). 2022 Vallegre Vista Alegre Vintage Port 3 x 0.75L 3 Bottles Port Wine DESCRIPTION The head office is located at Quinta da Vista Alegre, in the heart of the oldest Demarcated Winegrowing Region in the world - the Demarcated Douro Region - in the Cima Corgo sub-region, just a few kilometres from Pinhão. The unspoilt and magnificent surrounding landscape, given its privileged geographical location, offers visitors breathtaking views of the Douro River. Its points of interest are of outstanding natural beauty, in perfect harmony with nature, remaining etched in memory through a sharpened sense of sight - unique pleasures in the love of rurality, the scenery and nature itself. The Quinta's vineyards have a long-recognised history of producing wine, dating back to the 19th century. This is the conclusion drawn from books specialized in strain typologies and from some of the abandoned terraces, known as "mortórios". At the start of the 1970s, the company changed from a sole proprietorship into a limited liability company under the name - Sociedade Agrícola Barros S.A.. In May 1998, the company changed its name to VALLEGRE -Vinhos do Porto, S.A., resulting from the merging of the names of two of its most important Quintas - Valle Longo and Vista Alegre - but retaining its markedly family nature that spans five generations. Thus, VALLEGRE is a private, family-based, modern, entrepreneurial and dynamic company. Creativity, Innovation, Quality, Customer Satisfaction´s Principles, Well-being of employees and Respect for the Environment, are laid down in the Mission, Vision and Values of the Company. The production of DOC (Controlled/Protected Denomination of Origin) wines continues to be its primary aim: DO Porto, DO Douro and DO Moscatel Douro of the highest quality which are nationally and internationally renowned. Nowadays, the wines are sold and enjoyed in over twenty seven countries and the countless prizes and distinctions achieved in several international competitions prove the excellence of our quality. WINEMAKERS: Fátima Lopes, César Pinacho & Miguel Martins. WINE VARIETIES: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amarela, Sousão, Tinta Barroca & Tinto Cão. VINIFICATION The grapes are hand picked and transported in small boxes. All the grapes are from a single harvest so winemaking is processed according to the traditional method for Port. After partial destemming, the grapes are crushed in stone tanks by foot. Fermentation of the must takes place under controlled temperature and it is stopped by the addition of brandy. This wine, as it is produced, has great ageing potential. Ageing in large wooden casks, can be bottled between the 2nd and 3rd year. If stored under ideal conditions, it has a bottle ageing potential of 30 years. TASTING NOTES Deep purple color. Very elegant, fruity and complex nose, with aromas of ripe black fruits, jam and black pepper. Round, in the mouth it reveals its aromas of black fruits, such as blackberry and blueberry. With a velvety tannin, it provides great persistence in the mouth and a persistent finish. SERVING It can be consumed right away if you appreciate the potency of the fruit, but it also has enormous potential for ageing in the bottle. It is best served with strong cheeses, such as Portuguese Serra and Azeitão cheeses, Stilton, Roquefort and Danish Blue. It can also be served after the meal, with pastries and chocolates as well as with cigars. Unfiltered wine. Once opened, to be consumed on the same day, like any great wine for ageing. After decanting, the wine will open up and reach its peak, and then gradually lose the freshness and significantly alter the tasting notes. It should be consumed between 14°C and 16°C.
