On 12 and 13 January 1944, General de Gaulle meets Winston Churchill in Marrakech, where the British Prime Minister is convalescing since the Tehran Conference (28 November-1 December 1943). Based in Algiers, the leader of Free France has chaired the French Committee for National Liberation since the summer of 1943.
