1928 Bodegas Franco-Españolas, Vino Fino de Rioja (bottled in 1960) - Rioja Gran Reserva - 1 Flaske (0,75L)

Wine bought to a retired wine distributor in 2012 in Haro, La Rioja.
Stored in private cellar up to today. Bottle in outstanding condition: very good filling level, cork, color, capsule, labels, no leakage. Wire-net sealed with a metal seal of tinplate steel stamped. Check-out pictures. Fully mature and therefore drinking well now, or cellar for next 20-25 years.

Extremely rare 96-year-old white wine. This is one of the best and most unusual wines ever produced by Franco-Españolas winery in Rioja. Aged for 32 years (384 months!) in cask and bottled in 1960 to commemorate the 70th anniversary of Franco-Españolas Winery. This vintage wine was selected by the owners of the winery and vinefied separately from the final blend of "Castil-Corvo Blanco" (a blending of different vintages from the first half of the '20s) and labeled to be sold exclusively in Maximino Perez grocery-store in Vitoria (Basque Country).

Bodegas Franco-Españolas produced a wide range of traditional white wines in the first half of the 20th century. Castil Corvo was considered as the top wine vinified by the winery, in a style similar to Gran Reserva from Viña Tondonia or Paternina. The high costs of production of this wine forced Franco-Españolas winery to drastically reduce the ageing period and finally to cease production of this unique brand.
