Average bead size: 2-4 mm. - Beginning in prehistoric times, shells were used for adornment and seem to have been fertility symbols. Cowrie-shell girdles are often seen in Middle Kingdom and New Kingdom art around the hips of nude female figurines. - See last picture as a parallel: https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/545533 - Turquoise was very closely associated with the Goddess of Joy and Fertility, Hathor, who was one of the most important divinities in Ancient Egypt.
