A Rare Sawankhalok Celadon Votive Fertility Figure of A Woman and Child
14th-15th Century AD
Sukhothai, Thailand

This is a hand-crafted, part celadon-glazed votive fertility figurine from 14th or 15th century. The figure is a mother holding her child, bare breasted, sitting cross-legged. It is seated in the traditional posture: both legs are bent, with the right foot pointing backwards and the left foot touching right thigh. The figure' head was removed to guarantee fertility.
