Presenting a remarkable representation of Virūḍhaka (Guardian of the South), one of the Four Heavenly Kings, is revered as the guardian of the southern realm. This particular statue embodies the fierce visage of a warrior, adorned in armor, symbolizing his protective role. Virūḍhaka tramples malevolent spirits, ensuring safety in all directions.
The period attribution is based on our store's assessment. The accompanying display cabinet is believed to be from the Edo period. The statue bears signs of wear such as scratches, stains, dust, and surface peeling. Its right leg has been repaired, rendering it slightly unstable. The item in its right hand (a halberd) and the metallic aura around it show rust and are quite shaky, risking detachment.
Please review the photographs for a closer inspection of its condition.
Dimensions of Statue: approx. H 40 cm W 16.5 cm L 12.5 cm
Dimensions of Cabinet: approx. H 43 cm W 18 cm L 15 cm
