Luristan Bronze Pilespidsgruppe (4) (Ingen mindstepris)
A selection of four cast bronze arrowheads, varying in shape and size, but all featuring a central midrib, which descends into a short stem and short, narrow tang. Two of the arrowheads feature a triangular blade, one a leaf-shaped blade, and the last arrowhead is barbed, though they are chipped and one is missing. The pieces are covered in a beautiful patina and some earthly encrustations. There is some damage to the edges of the blades.
Luristan bronze comes from the Lorestan Province, renowned in antiquity for its sophisticated metal working techniques. Luristan weapons, such as these nice examples, would have been used in everyday life but also buried together with the deceased. Excavated items from this region often include weapons, tools, and finials, as well as small amulets and fittings. Ornamental objects are also frequently found, such as pins and bracelets. Archaeological evidence suggests that the Luristan bronze objects often served ceremonial functions given their funerary contexts.
