This ink inscription is by Zen Master 'Keidō Fujii'藤井誡堂 (1898-1984), who served as the 515th abbot of 'Daitoku-ji'大徳寺 and also as the head priest of the 'San'gen-in'三玄院 sub-temple of Daitoku-ji. Master Fujii was deeply versed in the way of tea and created numerous tea scoops and ink inscriptions himself. Among the abbots of Daitoku-ji, his handmade works are popular and are frequently used in 'tea ceremonies'茶席. The ink inscription "無事" (safely/unharmed) captures the essence of calligraphy in its simplicity. The confident brushwork, evident in this later work, reflects the high level of skill that he polished over the years, making it a truly remarkable piece of ink calligraphy.
The ends of this scroll are made of black lacquer.
