A bi-folio salvaged from a Mughal Koran, with prayers and commentary copied from Mulla Fathullah’s Tafsir commentary, dated AH1195/1780. The bi-folio copntains the last verses of Chapter 7, Al-A'raf (The Heights) v203-206 and the beginning verses of Chapter 8, Al-Anfal (The Spoils of War), together with the illuminated Surah heading and corresponding illuminated marginal Juz.
It is written in Arabic manuscript, in clear naskhi script in black ink, with interlinear Persian translation in nasta'liq in red ink throughout. Both folios have full framed margins around the scripture ruled in colours and gold. There are extensive commentaries in nasta'liq written diagonally in outer margins. It is in good condition for its age.
