Vintage Indian sterling silver and bronze inlaid dish Depicts Lakshmi, Goddess of wealth and prosperity, sitting on a lotus flower with elephants, left and right. Several monkeys and birds face each other with fruits in between. Bought in 1970's in Visakhapatnam, India by mariners. The silver metal is of unknown grade yet it shows an excellent performance in acid test (see photo), even after a minute exposure, this is very high quality silver. It is not certain if this is bronze, it could be copper or brass yet it is slightly reddish indicating this must bronze. the patina had been cleaned Condition: Is is good, after so many years it is logical to have tiny minor losses of silver (only in a couple of monkeys), these are corrected with silver paint. A tiny dent on the perimeter. The old patina had been cleaned to reveal the silver losses, expect this to develop again its own patina. The deep patina in the back demonstrates item's old age. Any imperfections are unimportant and do no affect the overall picture of the item. These can be noticed only in very close distance ie from one meter If mounted on a wall no one notices. You may possibly notice a small dent on the face but this most likely was done for some reason on purpose, as similar dishes on the internet show the same exact dent on the face.
