Luristan Bronze Pilespidsgruppe (4) (Ingen mindstepris)
A fine group of four Luristan bronze arrowheads featuring blades of various shapes but all displaying a raised midrib, and a short stem and a narrow tang. One of them features sharp barbs. Some chips and wear to the blades and earthy encrustations throughout all.
Luristan bronze comes from the Lorestan Province, renowned in antiquity for its sophisticated metal working techniques. Luristan weapons, such as these nice examples, would have been used in everyday life but also buried together with the deceased. Excavated items from this region often include weapons, tools, and finials, as well as small amulets and fittings. Ornamental objects are also frequently found, such as pins and bracelets. Archaeological evidence suggests that the Luristan bronze objects often served ceremonial functions given their funerary contexts.
