The Masseto of Tenuta Masseto is among the most important, rare and prestigious red wines in the world, a king of Italian wine history that converses with the greatest wines of the world wine scene. A masterpiece of absolute power and elegance that calling it excellence is almost diminutive. It is sought after by the greatest wine collectors and is a star at international auctions. In short, a liquid work of great value capable of integrating modernity and tradition in a mythological and legendary interpretation of a unique terroir. The first label was launched in 1986 with the simple name of "Merlot", a few years later the estate renamed it Masseto. From that day it began to conquer the market, acquiring national and international recognition year after year, proving to have an inestimable value.

The Masseto red is a mosaic of the best Merlot bunches from three sub-areas of the Bolgheri area: Junior, Alto and Centrale. Each has different territorial characteristics and different morphological compositions. The vineyards extend over 7 hectares cultivated in an enchanting area, characterized by Pliocene clays. After a very careful control of every single bunch, the grapes are pressed to obtain a highly prized nectar. Each plot of the vineyard ferments individually in both stainless steel and wooden tanks and macerates for 15-20 days, before being aged in barrique for a year. The assembly of the different base wines is carried out by the oenologist Axel Heinz who "harmoniously combines the many facets given by each plot", in order to faithfully reflect the vintage and preserve all the personality and strength. It is subsequently reintroduced into barrique for another year, before being bottled.

Masseto wine presents itself with an elegant appearance with an intense ruby ​​red color. The aromatic bouquet is a meeting of olfactory sensations that vibrate in unison creating a melody of great value. Blueberries, blackberries and wild berries make up the fruity symphony, to which are added more serious notes of sweet spices, cocoa, vanilla and truffle. A harmonic orchestra emerges on the palate, a calibrated synthesis of the characterizing elements, a millimetric encounter between structure and refinement, between softness and freshness, between tannin and alcohol content. The fruity note guides the sip and pushes it to a finish of great length and persistence. In short, a standing ovation concert!
