Is there life on art?

David Bowie fans should prepare themselves for a bidding frenzy, as an exclusive collection of images including never-before-seen photographs of the musical legend are being auctioned through Catawiki, Europe’s fastest growing online auction house. The auction, featuring 40 photographs of the Stardust singer, spanning from 1969 through to 1983, document different moments throughout his career. The lot includes shots of the singer preforming live on stage, as well those private behind the scenes moments. Amongst the images, is a never-before-seen cover shot set to be featured on his new biography, with a copy of the book also included for the winning bidder. With Bowie’s birthday just around the corner, ‘Rebel, Rebel’ fans can celebrate by owning one of these unseen images, as a selection of the photographs are from 1974: the period when Bowie’s album ‘Diamond Dogs’ was riding the charts and the singer was going through a turbulent time in his personal life. Previously selling for over £200 a pop, these coveted images won’t last long, and with bids starting at £1, everyone is in with a chance to own a piece of rockstar memorabilia. Ben Fried, General Manager of Catawiki comments, “With an exciting range of never-before-seen images showing an unseen side of David Bowie during the height of his career, we expect to see a flurry of bids as Bowie fans seek to own an exclusive piece of music memorabilia.” The auction, which opened today, will run until the 20th of December.
