David Bowie, who stole the hearts of music fans around the world stayed relevant through the eras and inspired young and older fans alike, with his moving performance style. As such it has been announced today that an orchestral tribute to David Bowie will headline Glastonbury’s Park Stage due to the sheer respect and love of the icon.
Ahead of Glastonbury, and as another tribute to the great star, online auction site Catawiki has unveiled a selection of images of David through the ages that show his personality as an artist and exemplify his love for the stage.
Auctioneer and expert in photography, Jamie Beeden, commented on the appetite of the David Bowie photos: “David Bowie was a true icon of the 20th and 21st century. He inspired many through his lyrics and performance but these images encapsulate his passion, his energy and the very essence of who he was in that moment. Each of the photos tell a story and will be sold for a variety of prices.”
Other than images of the musician in full swing, an image of David shot back in 1975, where he poses with a Great Dane, is pipped to sell for over £3,000. Terry O’Neill shot the image of Bowie in LA, having introduced the star to Elizabeth Taylor. In the studio to shoot the diamond Dogs tour publicity, strobe lights scared the Great Dane and everyone on the set fled - except Bowie who didn't move a muscle.
For David Bowie devotees, they have until the 24th June to bag themselves some extraordinary memorabilia.
