Exclusive whisky auction featuring rare bottle of Dalmore 50-year-old launches on Catawiki

The auction, which features fifty lots in total, includes a Dalmore 50-year-old Scotch (1926), which is expected to fetch up to £12,000 at auction. Made in exceptionally small quantities, this particular bottle is from one of the earlier bottling runs and while it was put into cask in 1926, is reputed to contain spirit first distilled as early as 1868. Hailed by Dalmore’s Master Distiller, Richard Paterson, as being one of the longest-loved and nurtured whiskies in the world, the Dalmore 50-yeard-old is rarely seen on the market. Other notable lots include a bottle of Balbair Vintage 1965, which is expected to go for between £1,350 and £1,800 at auction. Only one of 350 worldwide, this Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky comes in a case that includes a ‘secret’ pull out draw containing a certificate of authenticity. For Japanese whisky enthusiasts, the auction includes a rare Nikka Taketsuru 25 Year Old – a malt containing casks from the celebrated Yoichi and Miyagikyo distilleries. Introduced in 2012, only 120 bottles were available throughout Europe. Daniel Elswood, specialist whisky auctioneer at Catawiki comments, “The Catawiki whisky auctions have gone from strength to strength, each week growing with evermore rare and exciting whiskies being offered up.
