Guitar signed by the icon in 2002 comes to auction on Catawiki
Racing bike owned by Pope Francis, Noel Gallahger’s guitar and George Michael’s jacket amongst items owned by well-known figures in the auction on Catawiki
Amsterdam, 13 March 2024 - Catawiki, the leading online marketplace for special objects, today announced the auction of a guitar signed by the legend Bruce Springsteen in a series of celebrity owned or signed objects coming to auction later this week.
The guitar, a Dan Electro Bass from Horbury Bridge, was signed by Bruce Springsteen, Max Weinberg and Roy Brittain in 2022 during a recording session of 'The Rising' and was at the time owned by Garry Tallent of E Street Band. The instrument, which is accompanied by an image capturing the moment the musicians signed the piece, has been estimated at €6,000.
The auction, starting on 15 March, marks an exclusive celebration of popular culture on Catawiki. As well as the instrument, a bike owned by Pope Francis will be sold alongside Noel Gallagher’s signed guitar and George Michael’s jacket.
Estimate: €20,000 - €30,000
The bike, a Pinarello Dogma F12, was gifted to the pope in 2021 by Egan Bernal, then Giro d’Italia champion and its colour scheme is based on the flag of the Pope’s native Argentina.

It’s not the first time a celebrity-owned object has been auctioned on Catawiki. Here are just a few other items owned by well-known figures in recent years:
Kurt Cobain, signed left handed Fender Stratocaster guitar, €15,211
Max Verstappen’s Honda Civic, €75,000
Usain Bolt’s Puma running shoes, €16,000
Sylvester Stallone’s Ford Mustang, €43,000

Jonas Vingegaard’s Cervélo R5, €20,000
Thibaut Pinot’s Lapierre Symbiosis bike, €12,600
The online auction, starting on Friday 15 March, isn’t the first time an extraordinary bike has been sold on Catawiki. Catawiki’s partnership with cycling Team Jumbo-Visma saw Jonas Vingegaard’s Cervélo R5 sell for €20,000 in late 2022, and Pinot’s Lapierre Symbiosis bike from the 2023 tour as part of the exclusive Groupama-FDJ’s auction. Pinot’s bike became the most favourited Tour de France object to be sold on Catawiki, with the final bid coming in at €12,600. And following the debut series of Tour de France: Unchained launched on 8 June 2023, Catawiki saw a 50% increase in searches for “bikes”.
Experts predict that the guitar and other objects will spark interest amongst the general public. Catawiki Music Expert, Alexander Becker, said, “It is a privilege to witness the auction of such extraordinary objects with eclectic histories, from the Britpop era to American heroes. Both the guitar signed by Springsteen and a signed guitar owned by Noel Gallagher would be exciting to have in any home or collection, but bringing these objects together in this one auction is a truly remarkable moment for Catawiki.”
