Iconic photographs of movie stars and musicians go up for auction

Following the continued interested in celebrity memorabilia, Catawiki is offering collectors and fans the chance to own their very own piece of silver-screen history with this selection of stunning photography. This particular auction includes photographs of Sophia Loren from the mid-sixties, epitomising the ‘mod’ look that dominated this era. The extensive collection of vintage photography also includes shots of The Beatles in the 1960s and 70s, performing their smash hit ‘Ready, Steady, Go’ and striking photographs of British icon David Bowie energetically performing with Tina Turner in 1985. Other Bowie images include an original picture taken of him in 1976 in Paris, signed by the photographer Jean Louis Rancurel. Jamie Beeden, Catawiki’s specialist art photography auctioneer, comments, “This particular auction is an impressive collection that features some of the world’s most iconic faces from both music and film. Vintage photographs such as these continue to be popular amongst bidders and with bids starting from £1 it gives fans and collectors an affordable way to start building their photography collection. With so many images to choose from, we expect this to be a very popular auction.” The auction will run from 25th to 29th March 2016 at http://auction.catawiki.com/art-photography-auction/kijkdagen/29737
